About Us
What is Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Through our 2020 Strategic Plan, Habitat for Humanity will serve more people than ever before through decent and affordable housing.
How does Habitat provide affordable housing?
Habitat is able to make housing affordable because of community support. Homeowners and construction volunteers build under trained supervision and contribute thousands of hours of labor to further reduce home building costs. Individuals, corporations, faith groups, and others provide donations that make up the vital financial support needed to build these homes.
How do I become a homeowner?
Habitat affiliates all use the same 3 basic criteria in determining who will get a home. These criteria are: Need, Ability to Pay and a Willingness to Partner. Contact your local Habitat affiliate to see how you may qualify for housing in your area.
What is the Habitat ReStore?
Many Habitat affiliates have opened stores where they take new or used items that they sell to help make money to build more homes for families in need. The program is great because it provides a funding stream for our housing ministry as well as providing a recycling aspect to what we do. Many donors of items feel good knowing their used equipment will help another family find a decent home with Habitat. If you are interested in donating materials or would like to shop at one of our ReStores, please check the map on this website to find a store near you.
How can I get Involved?
There are many ways to get involved with Habitat for Humanity you just simply need to make the call. Find your local affiliate and see how you can:
1) Donate to Habitat for Humanity
2) Volunteer to help with construction or help on a committee
3) Provide in-kind gifts or lunches for the construction site
